Hungarian countess Elizabeth Báthory is known as the most prolific female serial killer of all time, accused of slaughtering over 600 young women in her luxurious castles. Legend says Báthory believed she'd be given eternal youth for bathing in their virginal blood. On the contrary, she would go on to live long in infamy. However, this tale has been questioned by many researchers who believe as part of a conspiracy against her, Báthory’s crimes were most likely exaggerated. In today's episode we learn more about Elizabeth's life and how her crimes took on their horrific legacy.

https://bewerben-boe-technik.de had me thinking about how technical aptitude alone never tells the whole story, which fits the way you separated the blood-bathing legend from what documents actually support. The detail about the 600 victims being inflated for political reasons stuck with me, since powerful widows in that era were especially vulnerable to property seizures dressed up as moral outrage. It makes me wonder how many other historical "monsters" were really just inconvenient people someone wanted gone.
